Dronetree Project

In the past few years, California has seen a surge in wildfires all over the state. These fires have been happening every year and have devastating effects on California's diverse ecosystem. We decided that we needed to build an initiative that rebuilds and preserves California's forests lost from the drought, and more recently, the fires.

To rebuild the forests, we decided that the most efficient method of rebuilding California's forests is an automated Drone system. We wanted to rebuild our state's forest in the most profitable way (to attract investors) and the least labor-intensive.

We have already built a prototype of how this system will work. Each component of the system has a pair of 2 drones that carry out two different tasks. One drone carries out surveillance and relays information for optimal locations to plant trees, and the other drone carries out the labor by planting the seeds at every optimal site.

To get some funding, we applied this project to the Microsoft Imagine Cup, and we ended up qualifying as far as the semi-finals.

This reforestation project has been initiated in Hyderabad, India, in the Naramally forest, and the project is still ongoing.
